Making Me Look Bad

It's not that hard to do you know, make me look bad. I'm giving people opportunities all the time without even trying. Half the time that's what I write about - how I am lame and you are better. It's my little way of giving back. Deep down however, on most days, I don't really think I'm that bad.

Then again, there are days.

Monday we had what is called a "delayed start" for school. Not enough snow to cancel it altogether, but enough to give everyone a little extra time to get there safely. I translate "delayed start" to "sleep in", so at 5:00 am after checking the internet to confirm the school beginning time I went around and turned off all the alarm clocks and then snuggled back down in my covers to go back to sleep. At 8:30 Samantha came into my room and asked, "Are you ever going to get up?"
"Eventually," I groggily replied.
"All right then, I'm going to go shovel the driveway," she announced as she bounced off to gather the equipment.
So I did what any responsible adult with a 12-year-old daughter about to brave the cold to blaze a trail for the car to get out while I lay there in bed and I...

...stayed there. And went back to sleep.

Wow, what a go-getter. She must get it from Cory. ;)

You're looking at this ENTIRELY wrong. After all, you ARE raising this energetic go-getter, aren't you? And don't you know the children are our future? Giving her room to grow and flex her snow-shovelling muscles is like your GIFT TO THE FUTURE.
And the future thanks you.

Hey, she has her free agency, too. Right? It's not like you shoved her out there without even a pair of gloves. (Tell me she had gloves!)

So where do I sign my kids up for that kind of stuff? Do you think 5 would be too young?

Hooray!!! Maybe she'll do the laundry if you stop doing that, too.

I'm just glad that I am not the only mom that sleeps in :)

How EXACTLY did you get her to be that way? I want specifics!

Isn't that why we all had kids in the first place? Snow shoveling, weed pulling, lawn mowing, dish washing..............

Or at least that's what my kids would say if you asked them.

Hey, so about your comment on my blog regarding "glitter boobs"?

That pretty much sounds like a blog post I would want to read more about. Especially if it involves all the 40 year old women at the party wearing prom dresses, which is what usually happens at company parties I attend!

Am I right?
Anyone?

How do you get her to be like that? I want to start training my little girls. . . Phoebe's 5--is it too late!?!?

How delayed was your school that she had time to shovel the drive way at 8:30 in the morning? Gem would have all ready been a half hour late...on the late schedule.
