Wondering...

How is it that I am perfectly content smearing ketchup on my hash browns, but if I saw you try to put ketchup on a baked potato I would be like, "THAT IS SO SICK!"

I don't like ketchup on hash browns, but my husband thinks it's an absolute necessity. He, however, wouldn't ever think of putting ketchup on baked potatoes.
It's one of those mysteries of life!

That is a good question! How about ketchup on your eggs? Or does that make you think of a bloody chick... If it didn't before, it will now!

Things that make you go "hmmmmm..."

No idea since I like anything that has potatoes or cheese for that matter. Best thing ever with ketchup - grilled cheese.

In Norway they put it on their PIZZA - NASTY! Yet, tomato sauce, tomato paste, etc. all good. Hmmm...

Believe it or not, I was thinking this very thing at lunch today when I was dipping my fries in ketchup.
Ketchup on a baked potato would be very strange.
I like salsa on hash browns, but I wouldn't put it on fries or a baked potato.
The thought of drowning my fries in butter and sour cream seems strange also.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that one is fried and the other is not.

Salsa on baked potatoes is good but ketchup is only good on fries.

Hash browns are like fries, just bigger, which makes ketchup acceptable!

We're all so full of contradictions!! How about HATING tomatoes but loving all tomato-based products?

Maybe because hashbrowns are already salty so the ketchep brings out that flavor. But baked potatoes have no flavor at all and salty is not what you're going for. Buttery is what I'm goin' for on a baked potato.

Seeing as I can't have hashbrowns anymore, but I still crave that salty ketchup connection, I totally put it on my potatoes. I wouldn't have thought it was ok until I was driven to it.
