"I see RED people..."

Famous last words at hair salons: "I'm ready for a change." I have been blonde all my life, but I uttered these words to my hair stylist today and I came home a red-head. Since my appointment this morning the words that have come out of my mouth the most, usually when I pass any kind of reflective surface and catch a glimpse of my reflection, is "Holy crap!"

Drew said I look like an "evil witch" while Samantha is offering words of encouragement whenever she senses that I might be close to sticking my head in the oven. This one is going to take a little time to get used to. My niece is getting married in Utah on Friday - I am flying out by myself to attend and so I will be making a major family debut where photographers will be present. Clearly, I didn't think this through!

Holy crap!

I bet you look beautiful! I love red hair and think everyone should go red. Hold that sassy head up high, and I want to see you when you get back!

Pictures. Post pictures. I went red right after college graduation and before my mission. I had a bob and looked like Molly Ringwald. Seriously. Then I would do a temporary (12 washing) red every halloween for a while, but now since I have to color to be blonde, I can't really do the red thing, or it may do really weird things to my already colored hair.

Oh my gosh. You definitely need to put pictures up here. Thats such a gutsy move. I actually got a more dramatic than usual hair cut yesterday. I go back and forth between liking it and hating it. But never loving it. And even though Ryan says he likes it, I know he really doesn't. You know how that goes. Have fun at the wedding!

Do you remember when I went red a while back? Having been born a redhead, it wasn't a shock to see myself with that color, the first being close to my natural color in high school, a strawberry blonde. But the second coloring was much redder and I totally hated it. I gave it a couple of weeks thinking I might adjust, then went back to my hair stylist and had her *heavily* blonde highlight the heck out of it. You could still see some red in it, but it was much more subtle, didn't look streaky because she put A LOT of blonde in and I was a lot happier with it. I just had to really condition it well for a couple of months.

I saw you when you dropped the kids off the other day and it looked pretty good from the quick glance I got. Of course, you're likely on your way to the wedding this morning and have to go with it, but I'm sure everyone will like it. And if they don't, what do you care. All the teenage relatives will think you're cool.

Dude! I've been absent from the internet for a few days...a week...whatever. But I finally read this and it clicked: OH, THAT'S the redhead I saw at the mailboxes last wednesday!
You're gorgeous.
