Is there a 12 step program for this?

For the last four days I have been without internet access at my house. The experience has taught me what I already suspected, and that is: I'm totally addicted to the internet. Not in a creepy, up to nothing good kind of way, but more in a I want to check the food network to see if they have a pumpkin chowder recipe and while I'm at it check the current value of gold and hey I wonder if A&W has a website with information on root beer by the keg? kind of way. Friday morning I honestly stood at the top of my stairs, immobilized by the disruption in my routine of not being able to check our local news for the weather or to see if I received any life changing emails overnight.

Our problem is not yet solved, but for the moment I am relishing in the ability to write and post. FYI, tomorrow begins my attempt at trying to go without sugar for ONE FULL MONTH, so if you're a really good friend you will call by Wednesday to check on the children. Wish me luck.

Good luck on the sugar fast, and I totally get ya on the computer thingy. It's weird how much you don't realize you need it until its gone.

I never liked the internet until we got high speed. Once you upgrade it's no going back down. Take my riding lawn mower. Travis's grandpa gave us his old one about 6 years ago. For three years I faithfully mowed our lawn with our push one ( well I just had to walk behind it and guide it. THe wheels did turn by itself). I have a 1/2 acre lot so it would take me 2 - 2 1/2 hours to do the whole thing. Then grandpa gave us a wonderful machine. It would cut twice as big, go faster, and I would get to sit while the vibrations would give my feet a massage. You might wonder why I did the mowing instead of my husband?? What would you do? watch your 5 kids after you have watched them all day so your husband could come home from work and go straight to mowing the "beast" of a lawn, OR would you take mindless exercise (while I had the little one) or get to sit for an hour to an hour and a half without any one asking for something. Sorry I got off track. Any way a couple of weeks ago it stopped working. Travis has tried to get it back to working, but since it's fall I only have to mow it a couple of more times. Next year if it's still broken we are SO buying a new one. I don't care about the cost. The whole point about this story, once you upgrade there is NO GOING BACK!!!

You are a stronger person than I am! Good luck, and call if you need help overcoming BOTH of your addictions! I might be able to talk you down, or simply give you a good recipe!
