Sometimes, Mormon women in particular have a reputation for being crafty. I am a lot of things, (prone to disease, the last one picked for dodge ball, rejected as Kathy Lee Gifford's replacement with Regis, you get the idea) but crafty is not likely to appear on my epitaph. Still, I love to show up and make stuff. Next month I am participating in a Saturday activity where several women are getting together to do just that - make stuff. Cool stuff, cute stuff, fun stuff, you name it. One of the things we are making looks something like this:
We are also making magnetic family home evening charts, menu displays, decorative frames, and Articles of Faith books. It takes people other than me to think of stuff like this, because if it were up to me we'd probably all end up with a big vinyl lettered print that looked something like this:
So yeah, I'm pretty sure that's why I'm not in charge.

I have to admit... if we were making that at our next Super Saturday, I'd be the first on the sign up sheet. Hmmm... speaking of which, I'm actually the one who PLANS these things. Maybe I should put that on the calendar...
Lol! I like that vinyl, I would totally want to make that ;D
I like your version better than any I've ever seen. More realistic.
A few years ago at our Super Saturday we were making wall hangings with vinyl sayings on them. "Families are forever" "Love at home" and stuff like that.
I special ordered my vinyl letters to say "Thou shalt not whine"
Yes, that's where my blog name came from.
Beautiful wreath!! I want one!
I would love the instructions for that beautiful wreath. If you ever feel so inclinded please post them. Love reading you blog. Thanks for the smiles.
That vinyl project is right up my alley... except for the fact that it's a vinyl project.
And it's fairly safe to guess that you and I would never be put in charge of some activity like this together because the result would be a cold, dark, craftless world.
Vern, Isn't showing up half the battle, of course in my case the war is lost before I even think of showiing up.
Jillybean, My vinyl, if you could read itl would say I whine, live with it, sorry I'm such a rebel. :(
I don't think we have Super Saturdays down here. Sounds fun. You'll have to show us pictures of what you made.
The wreath is pretty, but I love your vinyl craft. As a mother of six children that is what my day is like!
I had a question though...Is this for a Relief Society Super Saturday? How are you able to do this with the new guidelines? I am wondering because I am the counselor over "R.S. meetings" and we would love to do a Super Saturday again but we have been told that we can't because of the guideline changes... asking sisters to pay for a craft/activity. Maybe your ward budget is paying for it. I am just curious because we would love to have a craft day again for our sisters here in Wyoming.
I want instructions for both of those projects.
Somehow I think your rogue Craft- Relief-Society-Formerly-Known- As-Enrichment-Day would be the biggest event in Denver.
I have some amazing photos (of you) that I am hodge-podging onto a beautiful piece of hickory wood-does that count as crafty?
Jaydee and Shaunda: Guidelines? What new guidelines? (Shhh!)
The Grapers: Hey, what's that sound? Oh, right. It's the sound of me FIRING MY PHARMACIST!
I would love your idea, too, though!
Oh, but since I only have one child (the husband doesn't count as a child despite his behavior), I'd put it up at work. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I am drooling over that wreath! Is it made out of paper towel? One or two ply?
Whatever that thing is, I wouldn't want to dust it. So I'd go for one of the other projects.
Question: If you make a "menu display" does that mean you have to have a menu? Cuz I'm not so sure "mac 'n cheese" or "ramen" would look so great displayed....
Just sayin'.
What's Super Saturday?
Can I tell you that I was accused of being crafty by an unsuspecting neighbor merely because I had a picture with all three of my children hung up in a frame? No vinyl involved. Low standards out this way. What these people don't know won't hurt me!
Hilarious! I think I need that, but maybe I'll stencil it instead of vinyl....
I agree with the others...I like your version too, and BTW you are totally crafty!
The new guidelines basically state that if you do have an activity that costs money, there are things available that don't. (Such as a cooking class, decorating class, etc.) Our Super Saturdays always offer both. Though, part of me wouldn't mind scrapping it all together. Man it's a lot of work!
However, I could totally support that item you came up with. I'd sign up for several and give them out as gifts. I think it'd make a good Wedding present....
Hey! I am offering a free class!!!! We totally play by the rules! It has to do with toilet paper - so it may be trashy, but FREE!
